Safeguarding Policy
How Bondlyy protects everyone it serves: clients, companions and the people who refer them.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
1. Informed consent
- Every client (or their family member or referrer) is told in plain terms what Bondlyy is: a platonic companionship service. It is not dating, medical care, therapy or personal care.
- Companions sign a written Companion Agreement, a platonic-only policy and a code of conduct before they can accept bookings.
- Clients confirm their accessibility and communication needs at booking, and these are shared with their assigned companion so sessions are paced correctly.
- Where a client may lack capacity to consent, bookings must be made by a family member, carer or referring organisation acting for them.
2. Companion screening
- Application review: identity, right to work, experience and motivation assessed before anything else.
- Photo ID verification, checked by our team against the submitted document.
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check: enhanced where the role requires it, and every companion must either hold a current DBS or complete one before their first booking.
- Two references, contacted directly.
- Video interview with the Bondlyy team.
- Compulsory training before activation: Safeguarding, GDPR and First Aid, each completed within three months of joining.
3. Safety during sessions
- Companions check in and out of every appointment in the app, so both parties and admins know the session started and ended safely.
- Optional live location sharing during travel companionship, visible only to the Bondlyy team for the duration of the session.
- In-app messaging between client and companion runs only through confirmed, verified bookings, is monitored for safeguarding concerns and every message can be reported in one tap.
- Companions are briefed on each client's mobility, confidence and communication needs before the first session via a structured session plan.
4. Complaints
- Anyone can raise a concern: through the in-app report button, the contact form, or by writing to us directly.
- We acknowledge every complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve within 10 working days.
- Complaints about a companion's conduct trigger an immediate review of their account while the matter is investigated.
- Outcomes and any sanction are recorded, and complainants are told what has happened.
5. Incident response
- Immediate harm or risk of harm: emergency services first. Our team supports the report and preserves all session records, messages and location data.
- All incidents are logged in an incident register with dates, parties, actions taken and resolution.
- A companion is suspended from accepting bookings pending investigation of any safeguarding incident.
- Where a crime may have been committed, we assist the police and, where relevant, the DBS referral process.
6. Escalation
- Level 1: in-app report or complaint. Reviewed by the safeguarding lead within 2 working days.
- Level 2: pattern of concerns, unresolved complaint or a vulnerable-person incident. Escalated to the safeguarding lead and, where the client was referred, to the referring organisation.
- Level 3: suspected crime, serious harm or abuse. Escalated to the police and adult social care (or local authority safeguarding team), and to the DBS where a regulated person is involved.
- Contact routes for all levels are listed on our contact page.
